The light on Arran can change quickly, so remember that sun rises are best taken from villages on the east coast. With Holy Isle in front of the village, Lamlash is popular for these photos. Equally sunsets are best in the west, and Pinmill or Blackwaterfoot offer all-year round sunsets. In summer months sunsets in Lochranza with the castle and deer in the foreground, can make for an interesting scene.
Skies are also very big in the west and south of Arran where there are no big hills – and of course images from the Arran hills themselves are incredible, especially on a clear day.
Remember to pack your lenses, and do a little research before your come to save time when you’re here. It’s always difficult to capture the right moment, so be assured, if photography is your thing, there will be plenty of opportunities for lots of shots on your holiday, but take time out from behind the lens too – to be in the moment when you can!
