Coastal Tours

One continuous island coastline

The sea plays such a huge part in all our lives, and Arran offers a great opportunity to really experience our coast first hand, by taking a coastal tour.  Whether you want to enjoy a self guided wander with the salt spray on your face, or work with a guide to really understand the geology of our coast  – make sure you can enjoy all that our varied coastline offers.

Arran Coastal Way is one of Scotland’s Great Trails. This 67 mile route covers a variety of terrain, from stroll-happy boardwalks to clamber-over boulder fields, so make sure you’re prepared for a variety of challenges!

Wildlife tours offer the opportunity to see sealife such as gannets, herons, dolphins, porpoise and perhaps even a sea eagle (also known as white-tailed eagle)! Otters play around Arran’s coastline and red squirrels have even been known to eat seaweed on the shoreline! Otter's Tail offer fun and friendly guided gorge walking and kayak excursions, allowing you to get up close to Arran's sealife while Lamlash Cruises run a variety of sightseeing boat trips which can combine wildlife, heritage and history.

Arran Geopark offers lots of understanding about the formation of the rocks and how Arran got this incredible coastline. You can also take a coastal safari with a tour guide with Mogabout and drive the 56 miles around Arran, taking in the views over to Kintyre, Bute, and the Ayrshire coast, with a local guide who can point out all the best bits of our coast to you.
